Land of my Fathers - Not On Your Conscience

Land of My Fathers

At we’re all about championing local suppliers.  We like to know the products we buy are created from good natural resources by people who enjoy their craft.

And so we head off to the Welsh Valleys where Hometime Crafts have been producing handmade children gifts since 1990.  These beautiful wooden toys and keepsakes make fabulous childrens gifts.

Their small toys and key-rings would make excellent stocking filler alternatives to the cheap plastic tat we end up resorting to in a panic. We love the super cute personalised hairbrushes, name jigsaws and book ends.

We’ve often turned to them for a christening gift too – particularly the handmade chairs and stools which can be personalised to your name and design choices.  And the prices?! well they are definitely NOT London prices.  I fully expect Leighton and Emma to be super busy in their workshop in the run up to Christmas so don’t dilly dally with your orders.

Also from the Valleys we love Quinnell candles.

If you know your rugby you might recognise the Quinnell name and whilst we doubt the ex big burly rugby forwards are Head of Fragrance and Design (but hey – who knows let’s not judge here!) it’s very much a family run business.  Hurrah for all of us, their candles are now available to purchase online and our tried and tested favourite is the Vanilla & Brown sugar .  In our last blog we suggested as an excellent place to buy a treat for your Londonite friends – well here’s a place to buy something for your Welsh loved ones.  The candles have all sorts of different messages but undoubtedly their favourite will be the candle with the message “With love and a cwtch” – they’ll know what it means and if you don’t know – just ask them for one.

Heading to the north of Wales we find a company that embraces all our noyc values and offers a one stop shop for all natural baby and kids products set up by Jolene and Peter from their kitchen table in 2007.

Whilst we haven’t tried and tested their products yet (although we have our eye on their BPA free bath toys and organic kids PJs) they are rumoured to have the royal seal of approval as its where the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly headed for Prince George’s Christmas present last year – selecting building blocks made from sustainable wood. Check out their fabulous range for mums to be, parents and gift options for children.

As always if you buy from these suppliers please do mention – happy shopping – or as they say in Wales ……….mwynhewch y siopa
